Green Box Release Party feat. Jireh Calo, Evan Main & Jacob Jezioro

Vocalist Jireh Calo, pianist Evan Main and bassist Jacob Jezioro present a variety of material drawn from their recent recording projects with Green Box Music, representing three full albums. The show will consist of interpretations of songs from other genres as well as jazz standards and their own original music. The performance will feature Jireh Calo on vocals, Evan Main on piano and Jacob Jezioro on bass, as well as special guests Jordan Perlson on drums and Nicholas Gold on cello.

An avid explorer of sound and rhythm, different world cultures and innovative approaches to music, Manila-born vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jireh Calo is an ever-evolving composer, arranger, and producer. Growing up mostly self-taught, her music embraces the spirit of freedom, improvisation and exploration. She draws much inspiration from jazz traditions, indigenous oral traditions, African and Latin Afro/Cuban rhythms, American folk, hip hop culture, soul music, and a variety of world music. Jireh remains active today as an artist-educator, performing and creating music while working closely with the youth, teaching and being deeply involved with her local and global community. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Writing & Production from the Berklee College of Music and a master’s in Contemporary Performance (Global Jazz Concentration) from the Berklee Global Jazz Institute. She has performed extensively around the Philippines and in Boston, where she is currently based, and has performed international festivals in Malaysia, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Los Angeles.

Jacob Jezioro began studying music with intention at age fourteen. His father an established Nashville bassist, guitarist and producer was his first teacher. Jacob later attended Indiana University, where his mentors were bassists Jeremy Allen and Kurt Muroki. After completing his masters degree at Berklee, Jacob performed with pianist Danilo Perez in Panama and Costa Rica and taught jazz students at the Newport Jazz Festival, Panama Jazz Festival and FiJazz Festival. Since his return to Nashville in 2019, Jacob has performed live with his own bands and records and performs regularly with pianist Pat Coil. Coil’s trio has recorded with guest artists such as vocalist Jaimee Paul and saxophonist Joel Frahm. Jacob has also begun producing his own projects under his label, Green Box Music, and releasing them in collaboration with Burton Avenue Music, Jacob’s father’s label.

Evan Main is a pianist in New York City, where he moved after graduating from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music in 2018. Evan is a longtime student of Luke Gillespie, and also worked closely with Walter Smith III, John Raymond, Steve Houghton, and Dave Stryker during his time in Indiana. In New York, Evan plays with peers such as Jake Richter, Kevin Sun, and Max Light. Evan seeks to make music with substance and integrity, and enjoys playing a wide array of new music and jazz repertoire with other musicians in New York and elsewhere.
